HRT (in any form) is a slow burn, so that first dose - while often a huge moment, emotionally - is really pretty unremarkable. It’s a different pill, being held by an older Rain, but the scene is familiar (with many of the panels redrawn from the original page). I admit this was a wholly self-indulgent page for me, calling back to the original comic instead of jumping right into the transformation. Sorry, not sorry. I’m all about that slow burn. XD Still, I know I’m dragging this out a lot longer than most other animal HRT comics, so I had what I thought was a pretty cute idea of Rain imagining an instantaneous transformation with a puff of smoke and everything. It doesn’t work like that, but I think anyone seeking to make big changes for themselves (like, not even just transition) have thoughts like these where they can just skip to the end. For the record, Rain’s dream dragon form here is an early design I scrapped, so I don’t think it’s going to be how she looks in the end. But a part of why I wanted to this do little short story was as an excuse to practice drawing creatures for my other comic, My Impossible Soulmate. So if it means we occasionally see other dragon designs (or other things) outside of Rain’s final form, then so be it. ^_^ Edit Delete User comments: Guest 4th May 2024, 9:08 AM i remember the original version of this page setting my expectations so low that my first day when one of the pills tasted minty i was shocked into silence ? If they have the tech to literally change your species, wouldn’t they also have the ability to give trans people cis bodies? Just because one regimen exists in such a state, doesn’t mean that another unrelated regimen works the same way. They’re their own things. This is the case even in real life too. On the other hand, it’s also purely a fictional story. Dragon HRT doesn’t exist. It’s not intended to invalidate anyone; it’s meant more as a playful what-if, that draws some parallels to real life transition in an allegorical way. I can’t tell you how to feel about it, but that’s the position I’m coming from. If it’s this rare, then I can imagine that some more powerful gender HRT that works similar to the animal HRT would also be rare, if it exists. And this single doctor can’t handle every single trans person, so if that’s the case, then some people might get it from Dr. Erian, but the vast majority would just take conventional HRT and possibly have surgeries. Not that I’m complaining, I just wasn’t prepared for that with this and the last page. Her imaginary dragon form looks really nice. I’d also like to apologise in advance if I use some wrong terms, as I’m not as educated on the subject matter as I suppose I’d like to be, and sometimes it feels like the "generally accepted term" one day is suddenly regarded as a slur the next and I feel like I’m an old an behind the times (I’m barely in my thirties damn it xD ). I’m cis white male (hurrah), and quite some time ago, I came in contact with a different webcomic on the subject of gender-queerness (to avoid argument I’ll avoid mentioning which one), and while I did learn some things from it, it did sometimes made me feel like I should feel bad for being cis male, or paradoxically for both being ignorant on things of the subject matter, and for asking questions about it too. After some exposure to it then, I didn’t really follow up on the subject much afterwards. Now I recently found this comic, and I’ve been blazing through the archives...
